ACUPUNCTURE

Acupuncture is the use of very fine needles to rebalance the body’s natural state of balance. The Eastern philosophy believes that there are 12 meridians or channels that flow freely, one into the next over and through the body like the streams and rivers in nature. When these streams and rivers flow freely, it results in no pain, good energy, and clear state of mind.

Types of acupuncture

Japanese Meridian Therapy is a style of acupuncture that combines a root and branch treatment to help bring the patient into harmony and balance. The biggest difference between Japanese Meridian Therapy and the TCM style of acupuncture is that, in the Japanese style we use the most gentle technique and the thinnest needles possible to treat and balance the patient. The emphasis in the Japanese Style is on the practitioner to feel the arrival of Qi at the point, and therefore we can provide treatment with shallow insertion or even with no needles at all if the patient is fearful of needles. The Japanese style is great for children and people new to acupuncture, or people who are more sensitive overall. Japanese Meridian Therapy is rooted in centuries old tradition and was traditionally practiced by blind practitioners, which is why the emphasis in this style of medicine is on palpation, or touch.

Neuropuncture is a special system of acupuncture that combines neuroscience, other Western medical sciences, and present evidence-based acupuncture clinical research. It uses the Traditional Chinese Medicine acupuncture model to effectively modulate the nervous system by intentionally targeting specific receptors for the release of neuropeptides. This technique can also be used to reset dysfunctional visceral autonomic reflexes for improved organ function, as well as depolarizing overstimulated nerve roots for pain management.

Motor Point Therapy is particular Style of acupuncture designed by Matt Callison LAc. This style of Acupuncture integrates Western awareness of the musculoskeletal system and the channels used in Traditional Chinese Meridian Therapy. This system is a collection of  “ motor points” that lie within each individual muscle , once needled accurately  will trigger the nervous system to “ reboot” or “ refire” a muscle that may be hypertonic. (  aka  as “ locked or stuck” ) During this style of acupuncture , you will in fact feel the muscle itself release immediately and along with traditional channel therapy points also used will erupt in immediate and long term relief.

Master Ching Chang Tung , was an acupuncture guru who recorded the oral tradition of acupuncture points that were traced back to the Han Dynasty. The acupuncture system he shared is a compilation of 500 points that do not relate to the traditional acupuncture meridian system. These ” magic points” have been used to treat all conditions in the body by using fewer needles with speedier results. These points are not for the faint of heart, but for the results oriented patient.

The ” 5 Element style ” of acupuncture is a strong and potent style of acupuncture that is based on the “unblocking” of the flow of Qi in the channels. Each channel has an “entry” and “exit” point as one channel should flow easily into the next.  However, emotional trauma as well as physical trauma will stifle, back up or block this flow , inhibiting its smooth transition into the next channel. This style of acupuncture uses 4 points to unblock the channel that is stuck and open the channel it is meant to flow into. ” if ever you feel stuck ” in life, 5 elements is the method to help free you and unleash your full potential .

Traditional Chinese Medicine style acupuncture or TCM  is based on balancing the primary 12 meridians or channels using very thin acupuncture needles. It is deeply seeded in the Tao and was derived from thousands of years of empirical evidence.  The Channels flow like waterways or streams  through the body and if obstructed cause pain and when deficient leave malnourishment  and disease.  Diagnosis is done by feeling the pulse and examining the tongue. When experiencing this method, the needle is rarely felt on insertion , but the effort to is to achieve “de qi”  on the point. Some may not feel the de qi, while others may feel sensations of warmth, soreness, or a light release after the Qi has been summoned or released from the point chosen. TCM is usually accompanied by Moxibustion, cupping or gua sha among many other tools to relieve pain and resume balance and health.
